Thank you for your support to remove milfoil from Crystal Lake. As you may have heard, the DEP grant was withheld due to our economic conditions. BUT the Town of Ellington is still proceeding on the project. The CLA Milfoil Committee has met with the contractor, and they are preparing a plan to present to the BOS to optimize the removal yield with the funds we have available.

June 2009 The Town of Ellington has appointed an Ad Hoc Crystal Lake Milfoil Committee which will manage and monitor the suction harvest project this summer. The Committee will work closely with the CLA, the CT DEP, and George Knoecklin of Northeast Aquatic Research. We will keep you up to date on this project with a New section under Milfoil 2009. Look for weekly updates through the month of August 2009 as the Milfoil Removal Project progresses.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES:

  • SUMMER 2010 CLA MEETING JULY 22, 7 PM, Crystal Lake Church
  • SATURDAY JUNE 26, 2010  There will be a helicopter fly-over at 12:30PM to photograph the lake and homes around the lake. A local photographer Don Couture, 860-292-6223 or 860-627-5556 will be making the pictures available with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Crystal Lake Association's support for the Milfoil Removal Project. If you are interested, please contact Don directly. Thank you.

A new book about Crystal Lake Tolland County has been written by Lynn Fahey.  The publisher has promised to provide us with historical information about the lake which we can make available here.
