NOTICE: NEW BOATING REGULATIONS
Section 15-121-B15j. CRYSTAL LAKE REGULATION
NOTE: THESE REGULATIONS ARE IN ADDITION TO CONNECTICUT BOATING REGULATIONS
On the waters of Crystal Lake, located in the towns of Ellington and Stafford, Connecticut, the following restrictions shall apply:
(a) No person shall operate a motorboat at a speed in excess of forty-five miles per hour.
(b) No person shall operate a motorboat at a speed in excess of six miles per hour from sunset to 9:00 AM.
(c) No person shall operate a motorboat at a speed in excess of six miles per hour on Sunday from noon to 3:00 PM
(d) No person shall tow anyone or anything, except a disabled boat, with a motorboat on Sunday from noon to 3:00 PM
(e) No person shall operate a motorboat at a speed in excess of six miles per hour at any time weather conditions restrict normal visibility to less than one hundred yards.
(f) No person shall operate a vessel less than sixteen (16) feet in length which has an inboard mounted internal combustion engine powering a water-jet pump as its primary source of motor propulsion and which is designed to be operated by a person sitting, standing, or kneeling on the vessel, rather than the conventional manner of sitting or standing within the vessel.
(g) An operator of a vessel towing a water skier shall proceed in a counter-clockwise direction around the lake.
No person shall tow a waterskier without an observer of at least 12 years of age in the tow boat.
(h) No person shall waterski, and no person shall operate a motorboat towing a water sker, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 AM from the third Saturday in April until the third Saturday in May, inclusive.
(i) No person operating a motoboat shall tow more than two (2) water skiiers at one time
(j) No person shall engage in kite skiing or parasailing
(k) No person shall anchor or moor any vessel unattended at a distance in excess of seventy-five feet from shore
(l) No person shall launch, moor, or otherwise a vessel with a permanently installed toilet capable of overboard discharge.
(m) No person shall use a vessel for overnight camping unless such vessel is equipped with a U.S. Coast Guard approved marine sanitation device which is not capable of overboard discharge
(n) No person shall discharge, dispose of, or otherwise release any human or animal sewage overboard.
